June 12th was a day that will torment me forever. It was the day I let my soul mate go—my Phantom boy. I have loved and lost pets all my life, but he was just so different. I'm gonna try to share how with you now.
From the day he came home at 4 months old, he was the one who always kept us in stitches. His first week home, he thought it would be a good idea to go after SaborTooth. Sabs got his name rightfully so. He was our silver and black tabby rescued from the trees outside as a kitten. He ruled our home. He instantly realized he was too good to sit on the floor. He had to be in a chair! So best not get up from yours for any reason whatsoever! If he wanted to show you something, he would literally wrap his mouth around your arm and drag you where he wanted you!
True to his husky nature, he escaped the yard many times in those early days. He would bolt, I would yell, the boys would grab leashes and start the foot pursuit. Then I would get in the van and drive the other way just in case he turned around. They could only catch him if something had distracted him and made him stop.
I have so much more to share, but I started this mad late, and I gotta work tomorrow...more next time.
